Interior and Cargo
While both trucks come available in a variety of configurations, the Ford F-150 Lightning gives you more options for cabin and cargo box configurations, with several SuperCrew and Crew cab models available. As a bonus, the F-150 Lightning has an additional 14.1 cubic feet of cargo volume, through its front-trunk, or "frunk." This frunk is made possible by this EV truck's lack of engine parts. The Chevy Silverado EV also has a front trunk, but it falls short on extra cargo volume while the F-150 Lightning's frunk is the most spacious in its class.
Capability
Both crossovers pack a lot of power and torque with their
respective electric performances. While the Silverado's available
performances pack a bit more horsepower, the Ford F-150's standard motor
offers comparable torque, with both generating around 775 pound-feet.
Both trucks also offer lots of power, with 10 different outlets
throughout the truck, and plenty of kilowatts. The Ford F-150 Lightning
also has a higher electric capacity for less money, with its available
300-mile range motor being cheaper than the Silverado EV's standard
300-mile motor.
Both trucks can tow up to 10,000 lbs., with the right
equipment. However, the Ford F-150 Lightning has a higher payload
capacity, carrying up to 2,000 lbs., to the Silverado EV's 1,300-lb.
payload.
Safety Technology
Both electrified pickups will utilize many similar driver-assist safety features. Both now come available with hands-free, semi-autonomous driving capabilities as well. However, when it comes to base trims, the F-150 Lightning offers more standard driver-assist features for less, through the latest Ford Co-Pilot360â„¢ 2.0 suite. Standard Co-Pilot360â„¢ 2.0 features include Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Traffic Sign Recognition. The Silverado EV's standard safety apps include auto emergency braking, but all other comparable features cost extra and are only available on higher trims.
Technology
As an added benefit, the F-150 Lightning comes available with Ford Intelligent Backup Power, with an 80-amp Ford Charge Station Pro. If your home ever suffered a blackout, the Intelligent Backup Power system enables you to manually or automatically program your truck to act as an auxiliary power source. As of now, a similarly comparable feature has not been announced for the Chevy Silverado EV.
